Diffusion
Opera’s presence may have faded, but its essence lingers, shaping modern art and culture. “Diffusion” captures this evolution through its sculptural, membrane-like façade dissolving the boundary between stage and city, allowing opera’s timeless influence to permeate the public realm.

Project Axonometric.
Exterior daytime render of “Diffusion” and its playfull facade opening for public bystanders.
This project reveals opera to the public, using a lifted, kinetic façade to diffuse its cultural relevance and enduring beauty beyond traditional boundaries of class and space.
The facade of the building is inspired by the diffusion of particles through a cellular membrane. Like particles moving through a membrane, people can see and travel through the opera houses walls.
Elevation of the opera house, showing the public interraction with the facad and rooftop.
The facade reveals the operatic program to people when they enter.
